Excelsior Preparatory School teaches art to students in all grades.  Art is considered the skill, aptitude, composition, and craft that God has bestowed upon man to depict or give light to his holiness and glory.  For example, when God told Moses to build the tabernacle, He also gave him instructions for the divine artwork, which represents us as the temple or the tabernacle of God.  Since we are the clay and God is the Potter, He is the Artist who continues to fashion us daily and has imbued us with His artistic beauty.  This premise helps students to understand their Maker, which in return provides them with a basis for acquiring a greater appreciation for art. The various natural and artificial works of art are taught to be appreciated and/or assessed.

Students are presented with lessons that enable them to investigate and express their individual thoughts and emotions through experimenting with the construction of various types of art projects.  The curriculum allows them to analyze, assess, and experiment with many world renowned masterpieces.  Students are also taught the disciplines and strategies applied by artists and taught about various historical art movements and their relation to other historical events.
